Writer’s Biography

‘A Storyteller of the Human Condition….’

Going home………to Ireland 1998

I started as an actor forty years ago. I began writing play scripts in the ’90’s. The first time I faced the first blank page of the three hundred blank pages of my first novel, I trembled with fear. I’m just like you are. Are my stories interesting enough? Is my writing good enough? Can I do this?  None of that is important. What is important is that you write from your truth. That your writing improves every day. That you write every day.

I am an author, playwright, and poet.  In the early days, my writing focused on scripts for the stage.  I’ve since expanded my body of work to include fiction, books of poetry, a mystery series, and a group of children’s books.

As an actor and director I enjoyed a thirty year career in theatre. (gallery)   Writing full time now, I always say, “I’ll step back onto a stage to direct something that is on my bucket list but I’d rather write and let someone else do the directing…”

Originally from Seattle, I’ve worked in theatres from coast to coast. My plays have been produced across the country and internationally. I make my home in the beautiful city of Savannah, Georgia, with a silly little Yorkie mix named Petey and our cats Fiona and Barcode. All rescued.

I have written dozens of ten minute plays for the classroom, a series of journals for the creative writer and a true crime series, World of Murder. Much of my fiction can be found on Audible.com    audio-books.

Note:  I hope you’ll take a few minutes and explore some of the links I’ve provided here for you.  All of my books and plays are available on Amazon.com or at your fav book store.

For the creative writer in all of us, Trish created a series Journals/Handbooks. 1.Creative.Write.BookCoverImage Each one has a ‘how to’ section (6 in all) and the 275 blank pages have inspiring quotes from famous writers, playwrights, actors and poets.

Song of the Yukon and Wild Violets were inspired by the amazing women in her family and their adventures.   Women Outside the Walls was inspired by the women the author met while visiting a men’s prison.

Educators from around the world are discovering her collection of short plays written for the young actor and the classroom. Most popular are her series, “ShortN’Small“, individual short play scripts with small casts, no sets, no costumes.  Nineteen of the 26 shorts address the ‘real time’ issues of teens today.

Four of her children’s plays are available at Samuel French, Inc.

Contacting her is just a click away. She loves to hear from her visitors.
